Directors of DBA Canada

 

Janet Pereira is the co-founder of DBA Canada and the current Executive Director. She is the founder of "Jack's Fight For a Cure" Fundraising Gala. Janet has been married to her husband Nel for the past 18 years and is the proud mom of four beautiful children: Makayla, Lucas, Mya, and Jack. They are expecting their fifth child in March 2015. Their youngest son Jack was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia 12 weeks after birth. This life altering moment changed the family in so many ways. Prior to Jack's diagnosis Janet had earned a BA in Sociology at York University and was working towards a degree in Holistic Nutrition. Since his diagnosis, her focus has changed to being a full time stay at home mom and focusing on Diamond Blackfan Anemia Canada, and her passion "Jack's Fight For a Cure." 

 

Glynda Geibel is the Secretary for DBA Canada. She joined the board approximately two years ago and is a huge asset. She assists with "Jack's Fight For a Cure" fundraising Gala and also spears heads many other small fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money and awareness for DBA Canada. She is a mom to two amazing grown children Alicia (Mike) and Cory (Katy) and she is Jack's aunt. She works full time at Telus as a Territory Manager. She is excited about the upcoming birth of her first grandchild in January. 

 

Carol Manfini is the Managing Director for DBA Canada. She is a life long friend of Janet Pereira And Glynda Geibel. When she found out about Jack was sick she immediately wanted to jump on board to help out. She started out volunteering with "Jack's Fight For A Cure" and recently accepting the managing director position of DBA Canada

 

 

Voting Members of DBA Canada

 

Jenn Morrison  is the co-founder of DBA Canada and the founder of "Andie's Fight For a Cure" Annual Golf Tournament. She has been a volunteer speaker for Canadian Blood Services since 2010 and works with Make A Wish and Children's Health Foundation as a speaker and advocate during events. She has been married to her husband Shawn since 2004 and they have two girls. Andie was born in 2007 and Hannah in 2009. Her daughter Andie was diagnosed with DBA at 12 weeks of age. Currently she works full time for a landscaping and snow removal company as an office administrator. 

 

Kaye Geibel is the Grandmother of a DBA patient. As a concerned Grandparent, she joined the board to stay abreast of what's happening in the DBA world and to help contribute "hand's on". She helps out with "Jack's Fight For a Cure" Gala and also participates in other smaller fundraisers. She has been married to her husband Fred for 45 years. In addition to their three children, they also have 7 grandchildren and 1 great grand child.

 

Louise Dineen  has been married to her husband Kevin for 15 years and together they have five children. Her middle {step} son was diagnosed with DBA at birth. Louise and Kevin became self employed parents in order to be home more for their children and to take care of their son's medical needs and transfusions. She met Jenn and Janet two years ago and shortly after decided to join the DBA Canada board. Louise assists with "Jack's Fight For a Cure" Gala as well as "Andie's Fight For a Cure" Golf Tournament.  

 

Sarah Squissato is a committee member for "Andie's Fight For a Cure" and a lifelong friend on the Morrison Family. She was inspired to join DBA Canada because of Jenn's daughter Andie. Having two healthy children of her own she couldn't imagine going through what DBA families have gone through. She graduated from Teacher's College in 2004 with a Masters in Education.

 

Terry Lynn Hart is the mother of one daughter Grace who was diagnosed with DBA at birth.  

 

Carrie Kusik's family includes her partner Josh, courageous Hunter and a very active toddler, Logan. Hunter was diagnosed with DBA in 2004, with the help of family and friends, Carrie founded "Hunter’s Fight for a Cure" Foundation of Alberta in 2007 after making a decision that she wanted to help give Hunter a better future and other kids who suffer from DBA. Hunter and Carrie are also very active with Canadian Blood Services and have been guest speakers at many events in their province of Alberta and all the way to Ottawa. She has been a self-employed bookkeeper since 2006 and mainly work from home so she can adapt her schedule around Hunter’s doctor’s appointments and surgeries.

 

Paul Adamson has been married for 35 years to Lynn. Paul retired in late 2014 after working for 25 years with Imperial Oil as a Senior Territory Manager. His Business background includes Retail Sales, contract relationship, managing multimillion dollars in sales.  Prior to joining our board, Paul worked

with the Esso retailers in supporting Jack's Fight and DBAC since 2011.
