We can help!

Welcome to
Diamond Blackfan Anemia Canada

Support for patients and families living with DBA. Our mission is to find a cure for this rare blood disorder, through funding research, and to provide support and resources for Diamond Blackfan Anemia patients and their families. Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA) is an extremely rare, bone marrow failure for which there is no cure. It is estimated that there are only 2-3 new cases diagnosed in Canada every year. Due to the rarity of the disorder very little funding is provided by the government for research. We are a registered charity with the Canada revenue agency. All donations we receive come from the generosity of families, friends, and corporations.

Past Events

DBA Canada was privileged to be recognized as the premier sponsor at the 15th International Consensus Conference on Diamond Blackfan Anemia hosted by the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation, held in Atlanta Georgia 2018. This meeting brings together a dedicated group of doctors, researchers, scientists, families, and patients all striving for the same goal.

The American Society of Hematology hosted its 60th annual meeting and exposition in Orlando Florida in December 2019.

DBA Canada proudly exhibited at this event along with the DBA Foundation.

This meeting was a wonderful opportunity for our foundation to connect with hematologists, researchers and clinicians worldwide, and to spread awareness about our foundation.

July 10-15th families from the United Kingdom, to the United States to Canada joined together at
Camp Sunshine in Casco Maine for a nothing short of amazing week of learning, laughing, playing, and bonding. Camp Sunshine, on beautiful Lake Sebago, is a retreat for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. DBA families are privileged to attend this amazing week. The days are fun filled with camp programs for the kids, while parents attend seminars about the most up to date information on Diamond Blackfan anemia presented by leading experts in the field. Evenings are spent getting to know other DBA families (for some this is the first time ever meeting another DBA patient), laughing, bonding and being entertained.  DBA Canada is honoured to help fund this very important family week.
